Today (Wednesday, Feb 6) is the first day of the 2008 season of Lent, set up by early church fathers as a 40-day (+ Sundays) preparation for Easter. For some of you, this season, the concept of giving something up, and this entire concept is very familiar; for others, it might be brand new.

Several folks had questions about Lent last year, so I wrote a few things down, so that hopefully we can approach the season with a unified view, and so that each of us can understand the benefit and rich meaning of this centuries-old tradition... enjoy!
